Kaimiro: Day 13 — Small-Town NZ, Volcanic Landscapes, and an Unforgettable Playground

After the Glowworm Caves at Waitomo, we continued south towards Kaimiro, a small settlement on the way to Wellington.

The landscape on this stretch is typical of the North Island: gentle hills, scattered farms, and long roads through open countryside.

Driving Through Rural New Zealand

The drive took us through wide farming landscapes with sheep paddocks and small towns that often consist of just a handful of houses.

Days like this are part of any road trip. Fewer sights, but more time to take in the scenery and get a feel for the land.

Volcanoview – Coffee | Bar | Kitchen & Accommodation

We stayed at Volcanoview – Coffee | Bar | Kitchen & Accommodation, and the name describes the place well. It’s more than just somewhere to park.

The setting is rural and quiet, surrounded by open land.
