Why We Built This Site
When we were planning our family trip to New Zealand, we spent hours scouring the internet for practical, honest information geared toward families. We found plenty of generic travel guides, but almost none that combined personal stories with genuinely useful advice for parents — including which activities are truly kid-friendly, what gear matters for families, and what you can skip.
After our trip, we decided to build the resource we wished we had found. This site documents our actual family experience: the places we visited with our kids, the mistakes we made, the gear that worked (and what didn't), and practical tips for other families planning their own NZ adventure.
Our Family Travel Philosophy
We believe in traveling as a family without leaving the adventure behind — it just looks a bit different with kids. Instead of rushing from landmark to landmark, we take time to let the children explore, play, and connect with new places at their own pace. Our month in New Zealand was split between campervan life, family-friendly holiday parks, and the occasional lodge.
We're not luxury travelers, but we know that comfort matters when you have kids along for the ride. We think there's a sweet spot of family comfort and adventure, and that's what we aim for in our recommendations.
