Petzl Actik Core Headlamp

Petzl Actik Core Headlamp

Rechargeable headlamp with 600 lumens that lit up early morning starts and bedtime routines at the campsite — the kids thought these were the best part of camping.

5/5

Why We Recommend It

Essential for family camping — whether it's a predawn hike start, a nighttime bathroom run with the kids, or reading bedtime stories in the campervan. The rechargeable core battery saved us from burning through AAAs. The kids each had their own headlamp and it gave them confidence exploring in the dark. 600 lumens on max was more than enough for any trail.

Pros

  • Rechargeable core battery + AAA compatible
  • 600 lumens on max setting
  • Multiple light modes including red for night vision
  • Comfortable headband — even fits kids well

Cons

  • Max brightness drains battery quickly
  • Not fully waterproof (only IPX4)
  • Lock mode can be confusing at first
